Instructional and Information Technology

Welcome to the Office of Instructional and Information Technology. This office is dedicated to fostering the “seamless” integration of technology in all aspects of the district’s learning community. Working with students, teachers, principals and parents, we focus on infusing technology in ways that enhance the teaching and learning process, improve communication and data management. In and out of our schools, we encourage teachers and students to use computer-aided instructional strategies and the Internet to foster literacy and learning across the curriculum. The hallmark of our technology work is one of team work and integration. Our instructional technology specialists collaborate with content area specialists and classroom teachers to infuse technology in English Language Art/Humanities, Mathematics, the Arts, Science and Special Education.

Among many of the professional development programs sponsored and implement are:

  • The former district’s Instructional Technology Team consisting of teachers and assistant principals from our district schools. This team provided turn key training in their schools and share innovative ways to use technology across the curriculum.

  • The Instructional Technology Resource Guide an online guide to assist teachers to effectively integrate computers, software, web-based instruction and media literacy into their unit and lesson planning

  • Technology Integration focusing on infusing technology into ELA, using technology in Mathematics, fostering literacy with technology, project based learning and web-enhanced instruction

  • Partnerships with City College of New York, Media Workshop, Classroom Connect, Channel Thirteen, New York University, ThinkQuest NYC and Teaching Matters that help us to build capacity and offer schools effective instructional technology models

  • Coaching program that consist of the Instructional Technology Specialists team teaching with teachers to model instructional technology strategies, web-enhanced lessons and effective uses of courseware and class management
